Technology Services is an exciting and dynamic organization that provides quality and project services for West Technology. The Technology Services Software Quality department is responsible for maximizing application quality and stability through the implementation of change control processes, tools, and environments and the execution of software testing services. In this position, you will play a key leadership role in testing enterprise applications developed using new and emerging technologies and in implementing new, innovative ways of providing quality testing services.

The Thomson Corporation is seeking a Team Lead in Rochester, NY to manage teams of engineers in software test design, planning and execution. This provides hands-on participation including all phases of large-scale projects in developing end-to-end quality solutions and testing cutting-edge web, GUI, information technology and third party applications.

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead software testing team(s) responsible for testing enterprise applications developed using various technologies including distributed Internet technologies (.NET, J2EE, web services, etc.).
• Oversee and actively participate in test and process automation, manual as well as automated test execution, and the development of software testing artifacts, including test requirements, plans, cases, scripts, reports, etc., for assigned projects.
• Partner with software development teams and other organizations to ensure their needs are being met and that our services are adding value.
• Manage day to day operations for assigned staff and projects, including project management tasks such as resource allocation and prioritization, business case estimates, software quality assessments, client reports, and time reporting. Also includes anticipating needs and implications of decisions, proactively working to identify, clarify, and resolve issues, and removing barriers within and outside the organization in a timely manner.
• Enable and support employee development by working one-on-one with staff to define and maintain goals, provide performance feedback and coaching on a regular basis, prepare and conduct performance reviews, and review development plans.
• Collaborate with leadership to drive the organization toward our shared vision and to promote the software testing and configuration management services that our organization can provide.
• Proactively share knowledge and act as a consultant across all the software development and testing groups on best practices for testing software developed, using new and emerging technologies, and implementing innovative ways to provide test services.
